Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medical practice which involves inserting very fine needles into specific points on the body to stimulate energy flow and promote a therapeutic healing response.

Cupping is a traditional Chinese medical technique that involves the application of glass cups to the skin through a suctioning effect, to assist with pain, inflammation, and increase blood flow.

What to expect during your initial consultation & treatment?

Your initial consultation includes a comprehensive intake form and health questionnaire which is completed prior to attending your appointment. This assists Fraser in understanding your main health concerns and begin to formulate your treatment plan.

During your initial consultation, Fraser will cover your main symptoms of concerns, relevant medical history, supplements and medications, and enquire into various areas of your health, which can include sleep, work, lifestyle and life stressors. After Fraser has completed his intake, he will spend considerable time taking your pulse and ask clarifying questions. Abdominal palpation and tongue diagnosis can also be included during this process. These are specific diagnostic methods used in Chinese medicine to refine the Chinese medicine diagnosis and guide the individual treatment.

Some patients may only need acupuncture and others may require Chinese herbal medicine or a combination of the two. This is dependant on the current areas of focus and treatment recommendations. Fraser will then explain to you your acupuncture or herbal medicine treatment and treatment course.

If receiving acupuncture, you can expect the session to be approximately 30-45mins and Fraser will periodically check in to ensure that you are comfortable and relaxed. At the conclusion of the treatment, Fraser will book you in for a follow-up session and provide any relevant advice regarding post-acupuncture care and instructions if you are also taking a Chinese herbal formula.
